Entrance Mode:

The top entrance exams for B. Tech Mining Engineering are:

  • IIT Joint Entrance Examination: It is the examination conducted for IIT aspirants every year across various centers in India.
     
  • JEE Mains: This exam is conducted in the months of December and January. For Paper 1, students can opt for either pen paper-based exam or online exam.

Selection Process:

Every institute follows a selection process of its own. However, most of them accept scores of entrance tests. Some of them proceed with the students who qualify the entrance exams and move them to next filtering stage that is personal interview.

Lateral Entry:

Some universities such as UPES offer a pathway to this course. There are two pathways: examination and non-examination pathway. Under examination pathway, the candidates need to appear in UPSEAT. For this, the candidate should have scored a minimum of 60% marks at higher and senior secondary level and 60% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in 12thclass.

Under non-examination pathway, the admissions are done through board merit or JEE mains score. A minimum of 80% marks at higher and senior secondary level and 80% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in 12th class is required for admission through board merit. For admission through JEE mains, a candidate needs a minimum of 60% marks at higher and senior secondary level and 60% aggregate in Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics in 12th class.
