Master’s in Physiotherapy is a 2-year full-time program, imparted using a variety of teaching/ learning techniques, including lectures, case discussions, practical exercises, lab work, field visits, seminars, journal clubs, collaborative learning, group discussions, assignments, hands-on training, internship, and dissertation. The course follows the semester system. The mode of admission is an Entrance Examination which is conducted either on any of State, university, and national levels.

Aspiring candidates need to have a Bachelor's degree in any Health Science discipline from a recognized university with a minimum of 60% marks in aggregate. The average fees charged for the course in India ranges between INR 2 and 7 Lacs

Master’s in Physiotherapy aims to offer evidence- based and ethical learning in all areas of physiotherapy care.

Physiotherapists engage in preventive, restorative and rehabilitative practices in areas such as gross motor development, postural management, hydrotherapy, orthotic assessment and monitoring, sensory integration, respiratory conditions, orthopedic issues for people suffering in these areas

Eligibility for Master’s in Physiotherapy

Indian nationals can apply under the General category. Foreign nationals or Non- Resident Indians or Indian nationals supported by NRI relatives can apply under the Foreign/ NRI Category.

As a minimum criterion of eligibility, candidates aspiring for the course need to be qualified in BPT from a recognized university with a minimum aggregate score of 50%.

Additionally, they are needed to have completed a 1- year compulsory rotating internship or complete it before April 30 of the relevant academic year. Aspirants need to have attained the Bachelor of Physiotherapy qualification in a full time, in-campus BPT course from an institution recognized by the Indian Association of Physiotherapists.

Candidates currently pursuing their BPT internships are also eligible to apply, but their admission to the program is subject to the timely completion of internship.  

Master’s in Physiotherapy: Admission Process

The admission is purely based on merit obtained in the common entrance examination conducted by institutes offering the course- both MS and MDS programs. Candidates qualifying the written examination are called for rounds of counselling and interview. 

Selection of applicants is based on educational qualification, marks obtained in university exams/ any PG entrance exams, work experience, and performance in rounds of personal interview and group discussion.

Often, scholarships for pursuance of MPT are awarded to deserving and meritorious candidates, subject to availability of funds.
